Indeed, we can go further and pat ourselves on the back for our generosity in handing out the little that we do, and, of course, we can make our recipients go through all the indignities that mark them as the undeserving objects of our own benevolence."

--Jeffrey Reiman, The Rich Get Richer and the Poor Get Prison, 1995.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16975505944841576542noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1471835381095106209.post-88773230325203148412009-06-18T10:41:32.520-07:002009-06-18T10:41:32.520-07:00your insight and reflection shows deep inner growt...your insight and reflection shows deep inner growth. i like it! continue to nurture it, for then, your path can be revealed.

hugs,
roliUnknownhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07150025095890328233noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1471835381095106209.post-6926032582608582422009-06-16T13:38:34.554-07:002009-06-16T13:38:34.554-07:00Thank you for your post Kristen. As i prepare to head off to Haiti in two weeks to teach i am reminded that the key is not to go in and give hand-outs, but rather to work to get to know the community from the inside out and to unite with them in order to guide them to becoming self-sufficient. To 'bind our liberation in theirs' and work as one to see change occur. We will struggle together...and we will succeed...TOGETHER.
Thank you for what you are doing! You are making a difference in many lives!
Shannon :)shannonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13245542364432772212noreply@blogger.com
